How to stop it?
How are countries worldwide trying to stop animal abuse?
Many organizations worldwide, such as SPCA have been set up to try to educate the Public about the importance of caring for animals and responsible pet ownership. These organizations aim to instill a sense of righteousness in the nations, and teach them to love and care for animals.

Organizations set up many campaigns to raise awareness on caring for animals, and also to emphasize on the fact that “animals have feelings too”. Many people disregard this fact, and abuse animals, thinking that they are just toys.

These organizations also encourage young people to speak out and do the right thing about animal abuse. Of course, they also discourage people from buying poached animal parts, so as to help to put an end to illegal wildlife trade.

One such campaign is the “Wild but not Free” campaign, which aims to encourage Singaporeans to help put an end to the illegal pet trade in Singapore. Their motto is “Wipe out the trade in wildlife, before it wipes out our wildlife”. This campaign is actively promoting wildlife conservation and educating the public about animal welfare.

Animal welfare is the viewpoint that animals, especially those under human care, should not suffer unnecessarily, including where the animals are used for food, work, companionship, or research.

This position usually focuses on the morality of human action (or inaction), as opposed to making deeper political or philosophical claims about the status of animals, as is the case for an animal rights viewpoint. For this reason animal welfare organizations may use the word humane in their title or position statements.

It is believed worldwide that the animals should have the “Five Freedoms”.

Freedom from thirst, hunger and malnutrition
Freedom from discomfort due to environment
Freedom from pain, injury and disease
Freedom to express normal behavior for the species
Freedom from fear and distress

There are also laws in some countries to stop animal abuse. Many jurisdictions around the world have enacted statutes which forbid cruelty to some animals.

These statutes provide minimal requirements for care and treatment of animals, but do not require optimal treatment or mandate kindness or love. They require that animals be provided shelter, food, water.
